Domain names are registered for a period of normally one or two years. These registrations do expire, and it's important to re-register them PRIOR to the expiry date to save you the heartache that you may experience if you allow them to lapse.
The Net People can register a domain name for you, this means we manage the domain and notify you of the upcoming expiry date.
If you choose, you can register your domain with someone else, however we will not be notified of your pending domain expiry.
Your domain registrar will notify you via email, normally three months prior to your domain expiring, and then again one month, two weeks and seven days prior to the expiry date. DON'T LEAVE IT UNTIL YOUR DOMAIN HAS EXPIRED! Ensure you register it before it drops.
If you are unsure about these processes, please contact your DOMAIN REGISTRAR for assistance.
Please remember that your web host/web developer, may NOT be your registrar. They may be different. Your registrar is the business you registered your domain name with. Your web host is the business with whom your site is hosted, and your web developer are the people that created your site.
A customer recently had a domain lapse, and they did not register it with us, so we were not aware of the pending expiry. Unfortunately, as we are not the domain host, we could not do anything to assist them.
Don't place yourself in this situation!
